Our Christian Values

Together we Love, we Aim High and we Celebrate!

1 Corinthians chapter 13 vs 4-8

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[a] it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Weekly Prayer

Ed Gregory

Director of Education

Diocese of Bath and Wells

26th April 2024

Heavenly God

Thank you for your light in our world.

Thank you that light will always overcome darkness.

Thank you that I can know your light within,

That I can share your light with others,

That your light is never ending.

Thank you that you want me to shine brightly,

That I can help others to shine brightly too.

Please help me to shine today, within, with others

For your praise and glory.

Amen

Our Aims:

  • To provide a welcoming and compassionate community in which all are equally valued for who they are, developing in children a love of learning and a desire to continue to expand their knowledge and skills throughout their lives.

  • To encourage the experience of Christian life and participation in worship.  We have close links with the Parish Church and children regularly worship in the church. Provide an atmosphere where diversity is celebrated.

  • To encourage children to have a sense of belonging and responsibility towards others in our school community, the local community and the wider world. For all children to feel protected and safe.

  • To provide a creative and well planned curriculum which enables all children to achieve the highest standard of work and learning of which he/she is capable and at the same time develop lively and enquiring minds. We want our children to be inspired by the quality of teaching and we encourage our children to have high expectations of their learning and achievement and to become imaginative, creative young people who can ask questions, make links and solve problems.

  • To help children to understand the importance of good health and a healthy lifestyle and to ensure they know how to stay safe.

  • To work together with parents forging strong home school partnerships.

  • To create a stimulating environment in and around the school, in order to promote cultural, aesthetic and spiritual awareness.

  • To allow children the space to play imaginatively and cooperatively, developing independence and resilience.

  • The school’s policy of inclusive education applies equally to all adults and children who work here regardless of gender, religion, race, background, specific difficulty or physical ability.

Our Core Christian Values

As you can see below, we look at 18 Christian Values over the course of our Collective Worship programme. Each are important but as as a school council, along with Mrs Chesterton, Mrs Carter and Mrs Batstone, we looked at each of them and decided which aligned closest with our school vision.

In the video below, you can see our school council introducing the 6 core values to the school and describing how we will focus on them throughout our journey through the school. This was then shared with our governors and wider school community.

We invite parents to continue the theme for each half term at home using our Home School Values.  Please do have a look, dip in and use the sheets to have fun, stimulate discussion and reflect.  The key is to do it together!
