We Stand Tall, Aim High and Love Learning

Maple Class

Welcome to Maple Class!

We are a mixed year 2 and 3 class who embrace all areas of learning!

Our teacher is Mrs Williams and we are brilliantly assisted by Mrs Bond and Mr Barlow.

Dear Maple adults and children,

Welcome to Spring Term in Maple Class in 2021! I hope that you have all enjoyed some rest, fresh air and a fabulous time at home with your families!

Spring term will be packed full of learning and fun: all details can be found on the termly overview below.

There will be a strong focus on our county of Somerset in terms of exploring legends in English and crime and punishment in History. This will build on nicely from our exploration of the counties of the United Kingdom during last term. In Science, we will be exploring forces and magnets and creating our own magnetic games. In Maths, we are continuing with multiplication and division and then moving onto statistics. There are some Parent Packs in the Useful Documents section below relating to both these areas and for both Year 2 and 3 if you would like to have a better understanding of expectations of your child and strategies used. If you have any questions, or any expertise or resources which you think would help, then please contact me via Class Dojo!

Class Dojo:

Please check the class story on Dojo to see what your children have been up to during their school day. We love receiving your comments.

  • Reading records are checked daily, and changed on completion. This half-term, Year 3 children will complete book reviews on books read at home and school.

  • Maths homework is set weekly via Mathletics and links directly to the curriculum: this half-term - addition and subtraction, multiplication and division. TT Rockstars practice is also set to improve and maintain fluency in response!

  • Spellings are tested on Fridays, when new spellings are issued. Please continue to use Spelling Shed, which is definitely supporting your children in achieving consistently high scores!

  • Once a term a project is also set for the children to demonstrate particular writing, editing and presentation skills!

Maple News:

Here are a selection of photographs of some of our Autumn term class and home activities involving our study of the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.

In Science, we explored Sound!

And in Computing, we followed instructions to help us to understand algorithms and coding.
