Oak Class
Welcome to our class page!
Our class teacher is Mrs Startup and we are supported by Mrs Abbott.
Oak class is a mixed year four and five class. We learn most subjects in our mixed age class and separate into year groups for Maths, Science and RE. Being a mixed age class means that the younger children have early exposure to higher level learning and the older children have opportunities to consolidate their learning by revisiting topics and supporting younger peers.
In the Autumn term we will be reading The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Rauf. Our English this term will focus on developing a writing for pleasure culture and we will be starting our own personal writing journals.
We will be continuing daily practice of timetables from year 3, which is especially important for our year 4 pupils in preparation for their multiplication check later this term.
We will be learning all about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings in History this term as part of our 'Discover' term.
Best Wishes,
The Oak Team
Collaboration Crowns for the Coronation
Oak have been working on developing our team work skills. Our focus for this project was communication and listening. The children worked in pairs to design and construct a 3D crown out of cardboard. They had to share ideas, make decisions and then work together to create their designs. The finished crowns are all brilliant and unique and the teamwork required to create them was paramount. Well done, Oak! We are looking forward to our next project and can't wait to see what you create!
We are incredibly well supported by the wonderful Mrs Chapillon.
Please find below a welcome letter for each term, termly overviews and timetables
