Oak Class

Oak Class

Welcome to our class page!

Our class teacher is Mrs Startup and we are supported by Mrs White in the morning.

Oak class is a mixed year four and five class. We learn most subjects in our mixed age class and separate into year groups for Science and RE.  Being a mixed age class means that the younger children have early exposure to higher level learning and the older children have opportunities to consolidate their learning by revisiting topics and supporting younger peers.

In the Summer term we will be reading The Last Bear by Hannah Gold, followed by The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.  We will be celebrating Earth Day in April and our English writing will initially be based on the theme of this: Planet vs Plastic.

We will be continuing daily practice of timetables, which is especially important for our year 4 pupils in preparation for their multiplication check later this term.

We will be going on our residentials later this term and trying lots of new activities!

Please find an updated timetable for Summer term below, along with our class news which includes more information on our learning.

Best Wishes,

The Oak Team

Collaboration Crowns for the Coronation

Oak have been working on developing our team work skills.  Our focus for this project was communication and listening.  The children worked in pairs to design and construct a 3D crown out of cardboard.  They had to share ideas, make decisions and then work together to create their designs.  The finished crowns are all brilliant and unique and the teamwork required to create them was paramount.  Well done, Oak!  We are looking forward to our next project and can't wait to see what you create!

Welcome to Oak, a mixed year 4 and 5 class!

Our class teachers are Mr Stradling who teaches on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Mrs Steele then teaches Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

We are incredibly well supported by the wonderful Mrs Chapillon.

Please find below a welcome letter for each term, termly overviews and timetables

Best wishes from,

Mr Stradling and Mrs Steele
