Swimming

Swimming at Chilthorne Domer Church School

As a school, we sign up to the School Swimming and Water Safety Charter, which means that we’re in partnership with Swim England, the national governing body for swimming in England.

As a school, we take school swimming seriously and will work together with Swim England to ensure we are delivering consistently high quality swimming and water safety lessons for your child.

Providing reward and recognition for your child

During their school swimming and water safety lessons, your child will be working towards achieving the eight different levels of Award. Each has a certificate. Once they have completed all of these awards, their school swimming journey will come to an end, and they will enjoy a school-based PE lesson instead of swimming lessons. This enables us to focus on ensuring as many children as possible can achieve the standards required by the national curriculum and that they are able to swim confidently and perform a safe self-rescue. Vital life skills.

School Swimming Champion – your key contact

As the school’s designated School Swimming Champion, Mrs Chesterton is the central point of contact for yourself, your child, school staff, and our swimming lesson provider.

Your role is vital

We take school swimming seriously and hope that you’ll join us in encouraging your child to take part and do their best during lessons.

As well as making sure your child has everything they need to participate in their school swimming sessions, it’s important that you take an active interest in your child’s progress in learning to swim.

Together we can ensure that school swimming and water safety is an enjoyable, memorable and valuable learning experience, which will result in your child gaining an essential life skill.
