Safer Internet Day 2026
This year, we celebrated Safer Internet Day across the whole school with parents through our sharing workshop. The focus this year was on Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Leaders presented two assemblies to the whole school about what AI is and how to use it safely. There were also activities in the classrooms that families could complete together before or after the assembly, which included:
-
A quiz from the Safer Internet Centre completed on tablets.
-
Identifying safe uses of voice assistants (children worked with their family and put the cards on safe or unsafe)
-
Designing an Online Safety poster, on a template of an iPad.
-
Creating an Online Safety poster, using Jit5.
-
Drawing a poster of the children's trusted adults.
-
Reading scenarios about AI and placing Widgit cards on to say whether they thought it was OK, not OK or depended on the scenario about whether to use AI in those ways.
-
Reading scenarios about AI and placing Widgit feelings cards on to show how it makes them feel.
-
Reading a little story about Roo and voice assistants and then identifying what humans do best and what voice assistants do best.
It was such a well-attended event by our families. We were so impressed by the children and how they were able to use their previous knowledge, along with new knowledge to help them identify how to stay safe online and how to think carefully about when to use AI.
